Nature Path Travels

Uganda

Uganda, or the ‘Pearl of Africa’, as it was famously dubbed by Winston Churchill, is characterized by a relatively dry and flat Savannah in the north, with verdant mountains in the West, and vast dense and remarkably lush forests in the central region. The nation is home to an astonishingly diverse range of African wildlife including the highly endangered mountain gorilla which can be found in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Today, Uganda has 10 National Parks all distributed in various parts of the country, harboring a huge diversity of species of mammals, reptiles, insects, and birds. Some animal species are unique to a particular national Park. In terms of size, Murchison Falls National Park is by far the biggest, and Mgahinga National Park is the smallest. Uganda Wildlife Authority, (UWA) manages the 10 National Parks and to access them you have to pay entry fees to pay entry fees to their Headquarters in Kampala or pay at the entry points to each park. All parks are accessible by road and scheduled, chartered flight transfers
